To many people the very word 'peeling' conjures up horror within them; the idea of going tomato red and chilli-pepper sore, then peeling like a snake over several weeks has turned many deserving clients away from one the simplest yet effective anti-aging and anti-malignant treatment.
There are other, more gentle peels. Read on.
Peeling is rather like sanding down a beautiful wood floor. Fine scratches and surface markings need only a fine sand. Likewise the skin. Fine lines, freckles, pigmentation and rough areas need only a very gentle peel.
Gentle peels are based on glycolic acid and are designed to eradicate the irregularities in the epidermis (top layer) of the skin. They are performed every two or three weeks and leave the skin a bit dry and flaky for the following three days. More than one peel is required to achieve results. We suggest a block of six, paying strict attention to the care of your skin in between. We will advise and provide products to maximise the benefits. We want you to succeed.
Best results will be seen after twelve weeks, and in cases of pigmentation (e.g. hormone related) results will only be seen after a full year. Patience is the key here; properly formulated peels will turn back the clock.
Superficial, gentle, peeling is recommended for early signs of sun damage and for boosting the complexion; fine lines, rough, slightly thickened skin, open pores, pigmentation and freckles. Superficial peels are also very powerful in the treatment of acne.
Deeper lines, poor texture, lack of luminescence, bigger open pores, heavier pigmentation and rougher skin suggests that the source of problem lies deeper in the skin. Just as we need coarser sandpaper and heavier labour on our imaginary floor, so do we on these more damaged skins.
Medium-depth peels such as Alpha beta complex will refine the skin removing the coarse texture and closing bigger open pores, but with a degree of toil on your part. The skin will be very dry and will peel within five days, the new skin emerging underneath, Follow-up peels will be more gentle, we return to the superficial glycolic acid peels to complete the restoration.
The Weekend peel combines a classical peel with an abrasion - fine coral powder and Dead Sea salts applied immediately after the peel element shorten the recovery time to five days.
As it takes the lower layers of the skin (the dermis) six months to fully restructure, this is the time when you will see the full benefits.
